Changes to BC High School Mathematics Curriculum

In light of recent changes to the BC high school math curriculum, Kwantlen is in the process of updating admission requirements for those programs requiring mathematics for admission.

General University Admission Requirements

The recent mathematics changes will not have on impact on Kwantlen's General University Admission Requirements.

Open Admission and Selective Entry Programs

The recent mathematics changes will not have on impact on any of Kwantlen's programs classified as Open Admission (those with program admission requirements that are the same as the general university admission requirements).

The following table lists the Selective Entry programs that will have a new mathematics requirement for admission as a result of the changes to the BC High School Math curriculum:

Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing	Principles of Math 11—C	Foundations and/or Pre-calculus equivalents are pending approval
Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology	Principles of Math 12—C+	Foundations and/or Pre-calculus equivalents are pending approval
Bachelor of Science in Nursing	Principles of Math 11—C	Effective September 2012: Pre-calculus 11—B, or Foundations of Mathematics 11—B
Computer Aided Drafting and Design Diploma	Principles of Math 11—C+	Foundations of Math 11—C or Pre-calculus 11—C
Engineering Certificate	Principles of Math 12—B	Principles of Math 12—B or Pre-calculus 12—B
Environmental Protection Technology Diploma	Principles of Math 11—C, or Applications of Math 12 – C	Principles of Mathematics 11—C, or Pre-calculus 11—C, or Foundations of Mathematics 11—C+, or Applications of Mathematics 12 —C

Trades and Technology Programs

Workplace and Apprenticeship Mathematics will be accepted for all vocational-level Trades and Technology programs at Kwantlen.

Course Prerequisites

For individual courses requiring math as a prerequisite, revised prerequisites will be posted to the Courses section of the online calendar as they receive approval.
