GAAP and GAAS Review and Update
GAAP and GAAS Review and Update is designed for individuals who need an overall update and refresher course on aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS). The seminar will also cover recent Handbook changes as well as current exposure draft(s). The move to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) will also be reviewed.
This skill-building seminar is interactive: major sections of the CICA Handbook are explored through teaching and group discussion.

Your Seminar Leader
Glen Schmidt, FCGA, is president of GTS Seminars. He has presented numerous accounting, tax and auditing seminars for CGA Ontario and other provincial associations. Glen is the co-author of CGA Ontario’s TX1 Comprehensive Review CD-ROMs and two Internet-based learning projects for CGA Ontario. He is the section guide for Taxation on PD Net, which is part of the CGA Canada Competency Framework, and the former course author for Taxation 1. Previously, Glen had 26 years of experience with the Canada Revenue Agency, primarily in the audit, verification and enforcement and appeals divisions of the CRA. Today, Glen is a member of the Panel of Experts, Taxation, for the International Monetary Fund, and in the last four years Glen has worked on tax modernization, administration and reform projects in Cambodia, Vietnam, Dominica, Belize, Jamaica and St. Vincent & the Grenadines.
