Evening reception and address by Mr. Paul Cherry, FCA, Chair of the Canadian Accounting Standards Board on the transition to International Accounting Standards (I.F.R.S.) Paul has over 25 years experience in public accounting. He has served as Chief Accountant of the OSC, Senior Technical Partner of Price Waterhouse Coopers in Toronto and Director of National Accounting and Auditing Services of Coopers and Lybrand. He has served as a Canadian Representative on the International Accounting Standards Committee and Chaired the IASC Standing Interpretations Committee from 1997-2001. Pre-registration required.

Presented by Mr. Glen Schmidt, FCGA. Glen is a member of the Panel of Experts, Fiscal Affairs Department of the International Monetary Fund. He most recently consulted to the governments of Vietnam, Cambodia and various Caribbean countries. He is a past President of CGA Ontario and is a frequent speaker on Accounting, Auditing, and Taxation matters through his company GTS Seminars. Pre-registration required.

Accounting Symposium: Reception and dinner. Keynote speaker: David Baxter, Economist and Executive Director of the Urban Futures Institute. David will speak on the workplace and workforce of the future and the impact on accounting and business education.
Lynda Carson, Vice President Education, CGA Canada, will deliver an update on the CGA national and international education programs. She will also discuss recently announced reciprocity arrangements with the U.K. and Australia.
