Kwantlen School Of Business Awarded ACBSP Accreditation
Kansas City, Missouri – for immediate release – The Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) announced that the School of Business at Kwantlen Polytechnic University was awarded initial accreditation by the ACBSP Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners. Kwantlen will be presented with their certificate of accreditation during the ACBSP Annual Conference in Orlando, FL on July 1, 2007. This will represent the seventeenth annual presentation to institutions being accredited since the founding of ACBSP nineteen years ago.
Douglas G. Viehland, Executive Director of the ACBSP, spoke of the accomplishment of this accreditation, "Kwantlen has shown their commitment to teaching excellence by participating in the accreditation process, achieving accreditation, and then continuing the process of quality improvement. This accreditation is evidence of Kwantlen’s commitment to quality business programs."
For institutions that achieve accreditation for their business schools and programs, this attainment certifies that the teaching and learning processes within that institution meet the rigorous educational standards established by the ACBSP. The accreditation criteria are based on the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and require demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement. The ratification of accreditation by ACBSP covers a ten-year period during which time Kwantlen must continually reaffirm its quality through periodic reports.
ACBSP’s mission is to establish, promote, and recognize educational practices that contribute to the continuous quality improvement of business education programs, teaching of business courses, and student learning outcomes in colleges and universities throughout the United States and abroad. ACBSP was established in 1988 and is the only business accrediting organization for both two year and four year institutions. ACBSP has over 490 member institutions and is located in Overland Park, Kansas. ACBSP and the Association to Advance College Schools of Business, are the only two business school accrediting bodies recognized by the United States Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Kwantlen Polytechnic University joins the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University as one of British Columbia’s three accredited business schools.
