Co-op Program in Environmental Protection Technology
Entry Requirements
- Completion of COOP 1101
- Permission of the instructor
- Satisfactory standing and completion of first year program courses
- Note that for Co-op mode, you must complete your degree on an academic term, not a work term.
How to Apply
Co-op admission is assured upon acceptance in the EPT Program. While successful completion of the two Co-op work terms is regarded as a requirement to graduate, effective September 2004 it may be possible to graduate without one or both Co-op components. This would be regarded as an exceptional circumstance, and is based on recommendation by the Program Chair in consultation with the Co-op office.
For Environmental Protection Technology students to qualify for the first Co-op work semester, students must successfully complete all prescribed first year courses and be deemed eligible by the program faculty.
To qualify for the second Co-op work semester students must have a satisfactory report from the first work semester, and be enrolled in all the prescribed third semester courses.
Student Testimonials
"As an older, gray-haired student, I didn't want to spend another 4 years in school and come out with a piece of paper that only helped me get a job at the local fast-food joint. Instead - and I've found this to be true - the Co-op gave me practical, hands on experience in courses that were surprisingly interesting and applicable and workterm placements that gave me a solid foundation for building a future."
Employer Testimonials
"At City of Vancouver Waterworks Design Branch, we look forward to recruiting Kwantlen Environmental Protection Technology students each year. It has been an excellent partnership, in which we have found the students to be technically knowledgeable and well prepared for the work environment."
