Faculty of Design

The Faculty of Design offers four different programs, which are unique to Western Canada. The programs are offered at Kwantlen's Richmond Campus.

Fashion Design & Technology/ Fashion Marketing 
Kwantlen’s Bachelor of Design, Fashion and Technology program prepares students for careers in the global apparel economy in fashion design, production, marketing and computer technology. This dynamic program features comprehensive industry-based education and training using leading-edge technology; class projects facilitated by prominent apparel companies such as lululemon athletica; and an extensive internship that results in employment.

As of Fall 2010, the Fashion Marketing Diploma program replaces the Fashion Marketing Certificate program and combines fashion, communications and business knowledge as well as skills relevant to dynamic careers in fashion market research, trend forecasting, styling, visual merchandising, fashion writing, promotion, buying, sales and management at the wholesale and retail levels.
With over 300 apparel companies in the Lower Mainland, Kwantlen provides the work force for the diversified careers offered by a vibrant BC fashion industry.

Graphic Design for Marketing
This three year diploma, four year degree program will provide students with knowledge, skills, and abilities from learning domains as diverse as graphic design process, marketing, public relations, and business; media, technology, and production; conceptual development and image development; and an understanding of the social, cultural, and historical context for graphic design. Foundations in Design
Kwantlen's Foundations in Design program is the only fully design-related foundations program in B.C. and has played an influential role in provincial design education for over 20 years.  Typically, program graduates pursue further specialized design education here at Kwantlen or at other schools in the province or beyond. The program provides a diverse curriculum based on the cornerstones of fundamental skill development, self-diagnosis and exploration and is supported by a faculty with a broad range of professional expertise. The program is noted for preparing design students to adapt to various social, environmental and cultural conditions which affect the shifting roles of the traditional design disciplines. [more...]

Interior Design
This four year CIDA accredited program is for students wishing to pursue a professional career related to built environments. Emphasis on experience and skills in theory, research, critical analysis, problem-solving, design concepts, working drawings and specifications, technology, presentation media techniques, professional business practices and procedures, and awareness of human needs in built environments.
