Medical Insurance
Students coming to Kwantlen for exchange have the opportunity to purchase medical insurance through Kwantlen for the duration of their stay.
Students can also choose to forgo this coverage and purchase their medical insurance elsewhere before coming to Canada.
It is important to indicate how you chose to be covered in the appropriate section on the incoming application form.
It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that they are properly covered for the duration of their stay and Kwantlen assumes no responsibility in the event of a medical emergency.
Students staying for one semester
Students staying for one semester will need to purchase insurance for the entire duration of their stay either through Kwantlen or another insurer. The cost of insurance purchased through Kwantlen is $180 (subject to change) for one semester.
Students staying for a year
Students staying for one year will need to purchase 3 months of insurance through Kwantlen or through another insurer. Upon arrival at Kwantlen, the student should apply immediately for the British Columbia Medical Services Plan (BCMSP). After being in BC for three months, the student will be eligible to start the BCMSP coverage for a monthly charge. BCMSP will give students easier access to medical services in British Columbia.
