Formal Complaints Process and Requests for Review
A request can be made to the BC Information and Privacy Commissioner to review a public body’s decision about an information request under part 5 or to complain under part 4 of FIPPA. The Commissioner’s Office is independent of the government and has the authority to review any matter relating to a public body’s response to your request and to issue binding orders to resolve disputes. Within 30 days of the decision a request for review must be sent in writing to:

The OIPC will accept complaints and requests for review by email sent to the OIPC email address posted on the OIPC’s website, www.oipc.bc.ca. The OIPC request for review form is available online.
