Leona has been a practicing nurse for more than 30 years. She has extensive critical care background and has been a nurse instructor for over 20 years. Leona’s original education was at the Vancouver General Hospital; she completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Victoria in 1994, and a Master of Science in Nursing at the University of British Columbia in 1998. Leona has been with the Graduate Nurse Internationally Educated Re-entry Program since 1998 and has taught in all components of the program.

Marlene has been with Kwantlen since 1990 and is currently the coordinator of the Graduate Nurse Re-entry Program. She has also taught in the BSN and GNIE programs. Her practice areas include both pediatric and adult nursing. She participates annually in the development and revision of the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination for the Canadian Nurses Association. Her other areas of interest include cooking and travelling.

Judy has been a nurse for 23 years. She achieved a diploma in nursing through Douglas College in New Westminster. After working for several years she went on to complete her BSN at the University of Victoria. Presently, she is working on her MSN through Athabasca University. Judy began her career in nursing in adult medicine and surgery then moved on to work for many years in pediatrics. Currently, her interests lie in assisting Internationally Educated Nurses to be successful in integrating into the Canadian health care system. She has worked in the GNIE program for the past 6 years. She has also been involved as a co author in preparing a module designed to assist faculty in identifying the unique learning needs of Internationally Educated Nurses.

Bev has spent over twenty years of her nursing career as a nurse educator. She has designed and taught curriculum for nursing programs to prepare care aides, practical nurses, and registered nurses. Other nursing experience includes working as a direct care nurse in implementing vaccine clinical trials and nursing management in a long term care facility. A graduate of the University of British Columbia nursing program, Bev has recently completed a Masters of Applied Management (health) degree. Current interests include exploring the use of computer technology in the educational process.

Lori has been a nurse for over 29 years with a practice background in critical care and public health. She has taught at Kwantlen College for over 15 years and during that time has coordinated the re-entry nursing programs, worked on funded projects and taught primarily in the nursing re-entry programs. Currently, Lori is passionately involved with a number of Internationally Educated Nurse (IEN) initiatives. Some of these projects include the coordination of the Professional Development Program for Educators of IENs; the development and facilitation of a Train the Trainer series for educators of IENs and a lead nurse consultant with the B.C. IEN Assessment Service. Currently, Lori is involved in several research projects focusing on IENs and the fear of failure as she continues to work toward her PhD in nursing education. Courses Taught: All courses in the GNIE and GNUR program, GNQU courses, CPE 2 (BSN program).
