Business Intelligence (Data Warehouse)
IET provides key support to the Business Intelligence services to the University. The data warehouse and associated data-marts are designed to enable access to timely and accurate information to support decision making, supporting the Kwantlen strategic initiative of creating an accountable, evidence based culture.
The Enrolment Management Data-Mart is the first data-mart to put into production, The data-mart provides timely information on student enrolment during registration periods for academic departments to monitor enrolment trend and make proactive changes to optimize course offering to meet student demand. It also provides trending information, comparing historical enrolment patterns, to support academic departments in making more informed decisions.
Eligibility
This service is available only to selected Kwantlen Polytechnic University employees authorized by Senior Management, Deans and Directors.
Data warehouse users are required to attend formal training before they are given access to the system.
IET Responsibilities
- Perform all Server Management tasks related to the server upon which this service runs.
- Perform all Disk Management tasks related to the server upon which this service runs.
- Perform all Back-up and Recovery service tasks related to the server upon which this service runs.
- Perform all Account Management tasks related to creation of accounts for access to this service.
- Perform all Application Development and Maintenance tasks related to this service to ensure the application is operating in an optimal state and continues to meet business requirements.
- Provide comprehensive training and documentation as needed.
- Record related inquiries and assign each a unique tracking number.
- Assign all inquiries a service priority.

- Arrange funding for any specialized software requests.

IET Regular Weekly Downtime Window.
The downtime window is 5pm Saturday to 10am Sunday, the period of time during the week when usage of the Kwantlen systems and network resources are at the lowest. IET will aim to schedule most minor system changes during the window thereby minimizing disruptions. The window will be superceded if critical Kwantlen activities (e.g. web registration deadline) occur at the same time. IET will notify the Kwantlen community of all downtimes through the NoticeBoard.Related Resources
