FACILITIES
All classes and rehearsals will be held at the Langley campus of Kwantlen Polytechnic University, 20901 Langley Bypass, Langley BC. Any evening jam sessions will be planned within the Langley community in close proximity to the campus. Location of these extra curricular events are TBA.
AGE RESTRICTION
14+ with a minimum of 2 years experience on their chosen instrument
SUPERVISION AND DISCIPLINE
Daily supervision will be provided by the teaching staff and assistants. At Kwantlen Summer Jazz '10, we want to ensure each participant the full benefits of all we are offering at this jazz experience. Directors reserve the right to dismiss any participant for violation of regulations or for behavior found inconsistent with the camp philosophy.
AUDITIONS - PLACEMENTS
Opening day of camp, the morning session will be "sight reading" in a big band setting during which each individual will be taken out of the rehearsal to do a short audition for their master teacher who will be responsible for assigning them to an appropriate level position for all playing classes. We will also be giving a very short written theory placement quiz in order to create appropriate learning situations for all participants in jazz theory and improvisation.
