    - choose BSI link; look first for "company profiles" [right-hand column] which link to company reports (usually from Datamonitor) as well as SWOT analyses, magazine articles, etc.
  • Canadian Business and Current Affairs (CBCA)
    - includes articles from many Canadian business magazines
    - choose "company/org" name from drop-down menu on Advanced Search screen
  • Canadian Newsstand
    - full-text of all Canadian major dailies and many BC community newspapers
    - choose "company/org" name from drop-down menu on Advanced Search screen
  • Canadian Periodical Index (CPI.Q)
    - includes articles from many Canadian business magazines
    - choose "company name" from drop-down menu on Advanced Search screen

INDUSTRY INFORMATION

Industry Codes

North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) has replaced the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system. NAICS was developed jointly by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico to provide new comparability in statistics about business activity across North America.

    - 14 industry norms and key business ratios at 4-digit SIC code level (the least detailed of these three sources)
    - national level only
    - our subscription is updated annually
    - download results in Excel, HTML, SPSS and several other formats

  • Financial Performance Indicators for Canadian Business [Statistics Canada]
    - most current (quarterly) and detailed (6-digit NAICS code) source available at Kwantlen, but only available on CD-ROM
    - CD-ROM available for loan at Richmond and Surrey library reserves desks
    - 15 key financial ratios at provincial level
    - can segment by size of business (based on annual sales revenue)
    - results downloadable in Lotus or Excel

    - 30 performance benchmarks for 600 industry sectors at national level only
    - latest numbers are from 2004, so not as up-to-date as other two sources
    - uses NAICS codes to 5-digit level

  • BC STATS Subscription Site- Contains current issues of several BC STATS periodicals and statistical tables which are not freely available on the public site
