Farrier & Equine Web Resources Online Journals
  • Equine Science Publications - This collection addresses emergency management, nutrition, reproduction, and horse shoeing. The current news section features video clips.
  • EquiSearch - This site from the publisher of the magazine Equus provides tips and articles on horse care, training and more.
  • Farrier and Hoofcare Resource Center - The center site provides information, supplies, a bulletin board, articles and publications.
  • Hoof and Leg Anatomy, Conformation & Function - Diagrams, charts and photos are presented for educational purposes.
  • HorseWorldData - This site calls itself "an information clearinghouse for the worldwide community of equine enthusiasts," and has sections on breeds, publications, sports/events, schools/libraries, vacations, racing, and organizations.
  • International Museum of the Horse - This Kentucky website has online exhibits, a virtual art gallery, and Horse Breeds of the World, a comprehensive listing of 95 breeds by name and continent, giving information on each breed's history, origin and characteristics.
  • Merck Veterinary Manual - search or browse the sections.
  • Veterinary Education - List of colleges & veterinary medical departments worldwide.

TIP: Don't believe everything you read! Evaluate web sources very carefully for their accuracy, authority, and currency. Here are some evaluation criteria to help you

  • American Farriers Journal - Provides the table of contents for the current issue, plus a searchable article index of older issues back to 1975. Also offers news and a farriers forum.
  • Anvil Magazine Online - The website has many articles, as well as reviews, resources and more.
  • Equiworld Magazine - An online magazine with news and products.
  • Equus- Several articles from the current issue are available online.
  • Hoofcare & Lameness Journal - Aims to help vets and farriers treat and prevent common lamenesses by providing news, articles and information.
  • The Horse - This online version of "The Horse" offers articles, a glossary of horse health terms and an equine directory.
  • Horse Canada - Features news, events, breed profiles and articles archived by topic.
  • Western Horseman - First published in 1936, this American magazine's website has a searchable article index on the Archives page. The current issue's table of contents are online, as are some articles.
