Kwantlen Farrier program donates surplus equipment

(LANGLEY, B.C.) Kwantlen University College’s Farrier program donated surplus forges, hood and work tables valued at $20,000 to the Vancouver Island Blacksmiths Association (VIBA), a non-profit group dedicated to the promotion of blacksmithing in British Columbia.

After the move to its new facility at Kwantlen University College Trades and Technology Centre in Cloverdale, the farrier program had surplus equipment due to major upgrades to the latest and most advanced blacksmithing equipment including natural gas forges, new exhaust systems and different work stations.

Kwantlen’s high-tech Cloverdale Trades and Technology Centre reflects Kwantlen’s commitment to the economic development in the Metro Vancouver region and educational programs that will provide industry with the competent and highly-skilled graduates it requires. The $42.3-million campus in Cloverdale accommodates up to 900 full-time students and focuses on trades, technology and applied training programs.
