Kwantlen Eagles women's basketball: Home sweet home
(SURREY, B.C.) It's been nine games since their last league win, but Friday night’s win couldn’t have come at a better time for the Kwantlen University College women’s basketball team. Playing in front of a near capacity crowd, the Kwantlen Eagles celebrated a convincing (76-50) win over the Columbia Bible College Bearcats, and earned a victory in their final home game of the season.
“Everyone contributed to the teams’ win,” said head coach Kevin Van Buskirk. “The girls were able to put together a solid 40-minutes of basketball and it paid off.” Koral Fraser (Surrey) staked her claim for Rookie of the Year honours by leading the Eagles with 29-points and nine rebounds, and was also recognized for her achievement in being named BCCAA female athlete of the week. Melissa Adrian (Langley) also helped out the cause, chipping in 14-points.
Coach Van Buskirk and the women’s squad look forward to another solid performance this weekend when they round up the 2007-08 league season, playing two games on the road against the Douglas Royals on Friday and Capilano Blues on Saturday. Both games start at 6pm.
Kwantlen’s varsity athletics teams are the Kwantlen Eagles. In basketball, soccer, badminton and golf they compete in international intercollegiate leagues. For more information on the Kwantlen Eagles, visit www.kwantlen.ca/eagles
