Calgary point guard lands in Kwantlen Eagles nest
(SURREY, B.C.) Kwantlen University College’s Department of Athletics announces that Jessica Williams (Calgary, AB) will commit to the Kwantlen women's basketball program, for the 2008-2009 season.
“I’m excited to have Jessica on the team,” said Eagles head coach Gary Pawluk. “She's a CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) calibre player who has huge potential. She can handle the ball with no problem and I expect her to step in and contribute immediately.”
Williams, enrolled in Kwantlen’s associate of science degree program, is ready for the transition from high school to university. "It's an aspiration of mine to play post-secondary and I'm really excited to play for the Eagles,” said Williams. “I'm thankful for the opportunity to be on a new team in a new province where I can get better as a player. I can't wait to start the season in September."
A perennial all-star in the Calgary high school basketball scene, Williams is a talented student-athlete who also excels in volleyball and field hockey.
Kwantlen’s varsity athletics teams are the Kwantlen Eagles. In basketball, soccer, badminton and golf, they compete in international intercollegiate leagues. For more information on the Kwantlen Eagles, visit www.kwantlen.ca/eagles
