Kwantlen Eagles nab another dynamic duo
(SURREY, B.C.) Kwantlen University College Department of Athletics announces two high profile recruits, Varinder Singh (Delta) and Kevin Kokoska (Langley), have committed to the Kwantlen men's basketball program for the 2008-2009 season.
“I’m excited to have Varinder on the team,” said Bernie Love, head coach. "He’s one of our best athletes; He can easily dunk, shoot the three, rebound and block shots. I expect him to step in and contribute immediately.”
Singh will be studying criminology at Kwantlen and aspires to be a lawyer. “Coming to Kwantlen was an easy decision,” said Singh. “I like the idea of small class sizes, and with the direction the men’s basketball team is heading, it was a good fit for me. I’m excited about playing with my old foe, Omid Davani, and a former teammate, Jermaine Adeyinka. Plus, I’ve heard nothing but good things about coach Love and his staff.”
Singh will be joined by second-year player, Kevin Kokoska. Kokoska returns to the Eagles roster after taking a year off to concentrate on his studies.
“I’m very excited to be a part of the team coach Love has put together, and I’m looking forward to contributing anyway I can,” commented Kokoska. “There are many positive changes happening at Kwantlen right now and I’m looking forward to broaden my experience at the school by rejoining the men’s basketball team.”
Always looking for more depth, coach Love is excited about adding another big man to his squad. "Kevin brings a big body to the post position,” said Love. “He is a versatile player who can grab a big rebound and run the floor.”
Kwantlen’s varsity athletics teams are the Kwantlen Eagles. In basketball, soccer, badminton and golf, they compete in international intercollegiate leagues. For more information on the Kwantlen Eagles, visit www.kwantlen.ca/eagles
