History of Program Review at Kwantlen
In February 2001, Kwantlen University College conducted an Institutional Meta-Evaluation process under the framework and guidelines of the Standing Committee on Evaluation and Accountability (SCOEA; no longer in existence).The nine sub-committees involved in this process submitted their draft reports to Kwantlen’s community in May 2001.

The Educational Programs Working Group reviewed Kwantlen’s educational program review process against SCOEA’s evaluation framework and submitted these recommendations:
1. That Kwantlen University College performs regular and centralized educational program reviews.
2. That Kwantlen University College adopts a two-tiered program evaluation process.
3. That Kwantlen University College adopts program review monitoring mechanisms.

Kwantlen’s Education Council approved the following motion at its September 17, 2001 meeting:THAT Council establish a standing committee to establish a program evaluation process and that it have representation from across the divisions.

The Program Evaluation Committee*, a formal sub-committee of Education Council, began formal meetings in September 2002.
* Later renamed the Program Review Committee, and eventually became the Senate Standing Committee on Program Review when Kwantlen became a university.
