Public Safety Communications Program at Kwantlen

PUBLIC SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Public Safety Communications program enjoys a symbiotic relationship with the members of its Advisory Committee. Representatives from the province's fire, police, ambulance and telecommunications industries generously advise us of current trends and innovations in the public safety community, allowing us to meet the current training needs for graduates entering this field.

Kwantlen's involvement with these diverse yet interconnected industries naturally allows us to provide an industry wide forum for the public safety community through our Advisory Committee. Members enjoy the opportunity to discuss topical issues of mutual concern. In so doing, these employers contribute to Kwantlen's curriculum, technology acquisition, and selection of instructors. The quality communicators they help produce benefits themselves as employers of our graduates and directly raises the standard of emergency services that the general public depends upon.

The breadth and strength of the committee's commitment to Kwantlen cannot easily be captured. Committee members meet to review program entry requirements, to promote the program inside and outside the province, to fundraise, and to provide a very necessary critical analysis of our work and curriculum.

Kwantlen only meets its commitment to continuous quality learning by respecting the frank assessments and suggestions so expertly offered by our committee members. As the public safety communications industry grows and develops, we count equally upon our long-standing and new members to provide us with a real, practical, and fresh perspective; without which neither our program nor its graduates would be so successful.
