Student Parents' Program
The Student Parents’ Program supports parenting students in their transition into the university as well as providing additional support during their time at Kwantlen.
How will it help me?
For many student parents, there are numerous barriers to university education – for example, affordable daycare, financial hardship, non-completion of high school and perhaps most importantly, balancing school and family commitments.
The Student Parents’ Program helps reduce these barriers by putting in place a number of important supports:
- A designated counsellor who will help facilitate the processes of admissions, registration, educational and financial planning;
- A parent educator to provide support for parenting challenges;
- A weekly parent support meeting at the Richmond campus;
- Financial support for students attending the weekly meeting;
- Financial support for purchasing textbooks for high school courses;
- Referrals for childcare, childcare subsidy, housing and parenting resources;
- Enhanced one-to-one career counselling.
